Robin Hood Festival of Running
Victoria Embankment, Nottingham, 14 September
- rebranded in 2007, the annual festival returns with running events to suit all ages and abilities. The aim of the festival is to encourage more people to get involved and get fit. So come along, take part in a marathon, challenge, or simply enjoy the carnival atmosphere. Also the event incorporates Half and Full Marathons, the Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge, Hoofers Marathon Relay Challenge, Boots Primary Schools Relay Challenge, Boots Tri It Duathlon, Maid Marion Mile Race, the ClinPhone Charity Challenge, New Balance Speed Run and the BBC Radio Nottingham Fun Run and the Don Scott Mini-marathon. Last Minute Southwell Sprint Triathlon
Southwell, 21 September
- around 600 competitors come together for the final triathlon of the season, a 400m pool swim - 20km bike - 5km run. The event attracts a lot of first timers and many people that raced in May at the Southwell Sprint Triathlon, returning to see how much they've improved during the season. The course is identical but this event is much more relaxed. It's more like an end of season social gathering than a race. More info...

The Robin Hood Adventure Challenge
Sherwood Pines Forest Park, 19 October
- an adventure challenge set within the 1,200 hectares of woodland and open heath of Sherwood Pines Forest Park. There'll be a new corporate challenge element for those who fancy a bit of company competition. And the four race options available in 2007 are repeated... The Evil Sheriff Off Road Duathlon (6km run 18km bike 3km run) has some technical up hill sections and could live up to its name... The Robin Hood 10km Trail Run & Corporate Challenge (over 15 years old, all abilities) is a safe enjoyable 10km run through Robin Hood's beautiful forest... challenge yourself to The Maid Marian 5km Trail Run (over 15 years old, all abilities) whether training to get fit or raising money for charity... Twenty20 World Cup cricket
Trent Bridge, 5 – 21 June 2009 (semi-final: 18th Nottingham, 19th London; final: 21st London)
- Trent Bridge will host a super-eight clash between England and South Africa in the ICC World Twenty20 if both teams qualify from their groups. The fixture is one of 11 games to be played at the only tournament venue outside London which will also host India v Bangladesh, Zimbabwe v Bangladesh, Australia v Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka v West Indies, India v Zimbabwe, three additional super-eight fixtures and the first semi-final. Invacare World Team Cup
Nottingham Tennis Centre, 27 July – 2 August 2009
- The International Tennis Federation’s flagship annual wheelchair tennis team event takes place in Nottingham for the third time when it will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

National Team Relay Triathlon Championships 
Holme Pierrepont, August 2009

- One of the most exhilarating and fun events on the UK athletics calendar, the relays revolve around teams of four where everyone swims, bikes and runs.

Trent Bridge Cricket Ground tours
- every Tuesday (unless a match is in progress) it takes groups around the historic old ground. The tours start at 2.00pm from the Cricket Shop (at the rear of the Trent Bridge Inn) and last for around 90 minutes including the Long Room, Pavilion and the Library, where archivist Peter Wynne-Thomas will be able to answer any of your questions about Notts and Trent Bridge. At present the price is £2 for adults, £1 for juniors. By prior arrangement it also cateres for groups of people who wish to be taken around the ground at other times. More info...
